On 5 June, World Environment Day, SUEZ join hands with Canature Health Technology Group (Canature), water purification companies and organizations from around the world to establish the CEIBS Environmental Protection Alumni Association that aims to reduce plastic bottles at source through innovative technologies and collaborative business models.

In recent years, bottled water has become the main source of drinking water both on the road and at home. Discarded plastic bottles are harmful to the environment of the whole planet. Hence SUEZ’s Water Technologies & Solutions and Canature have launched the strategic plan to collaborate on household water purification technologies. The two companies will work together to apply SUEZ’s hundred-year technologies and know-hows in the municipal and industrial water treatment realm into domestic platforms to promote healthy and safe public, commercial and household water purification solutions around the globe in order to provide healthy water anytime anywhere.

“Canature has always been committed to providing ‘healthy water anytime, anywhere’. We focus on not only water, but also water-related environmental issues. By initiating and launching the Alliance, Canature hopes to lead and push forward the innovative solutions to effectively resolve the social problems brought by plastic bottles,” said Tim Wang, President of Canature.

“SUEZ is home to world-leading water purification technologies, manufacturing membrane product covering ultrafiltration (UF), reverse osmosis (RO), nanofiltration (NF) and electrodialysis (ED). Through the strategic collaboration with Canture, we will work to develop innovative water purification solutions to meet the market demand for higher quality and increasingly complicated application scenarios. Our goal is to make high-tech water purification products accessible to more consumers whilst reducing the use of plastic bottles,” said Tim Huang, Senior Vice President of Greater China, Korea & Japan, SUEZ Water Technologies & Solutions.

SUEZ is also among the founding members of the Alliance to End Plastic Waste, an international initiative launched in January 2019 to end plastic waste in the environment, especially in the ocean.

As a leader in plastic recycling in Europe, each year, SUEZ processes nearly 400,000 tons of plastic waste in nine specialist facilities in Europe and produces 150,000 tons of circular polymers. In Southeast Asia, SUEZ will build a plastic recycling plant in Thailand to turn waste plastics into circular polymers. The new plant will convert 30,000 tons/year of locally collected low-density polyethylene (LDPE) and linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE) plastic film waste, that would have otherwise gone to waste or ended up in the environment, into high-quality post-consumer recycled plastic (PCR). This PCR will be used to produce products for a circular economy.

The CEIBS Environmental Protection Alumni Association is a non-profit organization consisting of nine companies and organizations including Canature, SUEZ, AOX, Globaltap, Kent, Kinetico, Wateroam, China Environment Chamber of Commerce and the CEIBS Environmental Protection Schoolmate Association.

On 5  June 2019, SUEZ, Canature and water purification companies and organisations jointly establish the CEIBS Environmental Protection Alumni Association in China.
